Mallorca Travel

A very late, sort-of honeymoon trip to Mallorca at the end of the season, which was so perfect. What a gorgeous place!

The island is full of beautiful old world architecture with lush city gardens and a variety of terrains within easy travel distance. We loved exploring old town Palma including La Seu Cathedral, and the Parc de la Mar, as well as the Banys Arabs (Arab Baths). We had an absolutely fantastic lunch at Marc Fosh, named after its Michelin starred chef. Another city highlight was dinner at Gin Burger, which is devoted to tasty burgers and perfect gin cocktails. We loved the thoughtful combinations of specialized tonics and twists that brought out the unique flavour profile of each gin.

We took several day trips, starting with the lovely little town of Port de Sóller, and from there a terrifying mountain bus ride to the city of Deiá. Plans to go further into the mountains were abandoned since holidays are not about seeing your life flash in front of your eyes. Instead we met a charming donkey and bought a few treasures in a local antiques shop.

The weather was sometimes overcast but still mild and beautiful, so we also bussed north to the beaches around Alcúdia, and also visited the walled city. We almost attempted to hike in the nearby mountains near Ermita de la Victoria. I would love to return to Mallorca one day, and it would be a dream to photograph a wedding there!
